After spending extended periods in our homes over the last two years, many of us have decided that it’s time for a move. Our present home is either too small, not configured in the right way, in the wrong location or isn’t what we aspire to.
What we are now seeking is space. Space away from each other, space for our work, space for our cars (and other toys), space for quiet time and space for exercise. Our home is now so much more than just a place to rest and entertain. It is our office, our study space, our entertainment zone, and our gym. A great home to live in and in a desirable convenient location is now more important than ever.
Recent sales of recently completed or fully renovated homes reflect the need for space, comfort, and flexibility. Buyers are willing to pay for the opportunity to move straight in and enjoy the now considered essentials of our homes. As such, buyers are fearing that they will miss the opportunity of owning such a home.
The number of homes listed for sale has increased during our traditional spring selling season. It is still down compared to this time last year and the previous year. Buyer demand is still high with the heat starting to come off some markets. Coupled with cash rates remaining low, borders opening and overseas arrivals about to commence, buying activity will remain strong over the summer period.
